Links to eHive connecting to unintended URLs

Postby Av-CIM » Wed Apr 17, 2013 2:55 pm

Hi!
I'm having trouble trying to redirect people to my collection in eHive through links in other web pages.
The problem first occurred by putting a link in a Facebook post. The specific link was https://ehive.com/account/4822, and, although hovering with the mouse over the link, the right address appeared at the bottom of my browser (Opera 12.15), clicking on it resulted in a series of redirections to unknown domains, the final of these appearing to be indefinitely loading the page.
Sometimes at this moment AVG reported malaware. The situation was recreated on a second computer running Google Chrome. Thus, it does not appear to be a problem specific to my computer.
However, if the text of the URL was copied and pasted into the browser's address bar, eHive was properly loaded.
At first I thought this was a problem with Facebook, but trying other links in facebook posts took me to the expected URLs.
Then I tried to search my collection in Google ("aveiro" and "eHive" were used for the search). Again, clicking one of the links found by Google redirected me through a series of URLs to http://www.ecod.it/templates/ja_purity/1.php, which did not load (it seemed to have blocked when starting to load).
Does anybody know what this happens? Am I right to post this here, or should I report it somewhere else?
Thank you very much.

In addition to what I said:
I just tried to access http://ehive.com/account/4822 through a google search, then clicking on the google ling. AVG gave the following message:

Name: Exploit Redkit Exploit Kit (type 1999)
Object name: mcfamiliesinneed.org/cgdx.html

AVG has the following information of this specific exploit kit:

Thanks.

There is currently a malware program infecting computers of people using Google Chrome and Google search. See the link below.

On unaffected computers searching for and redirecting to eHive works correctly.

You can follow the guidelines from Google to resolve this problem.

We had a report from another user who had problems in Google Chrome. The issue ended up being a virus in their installation of Google Chrome rather than anything directly related to eHive.
There is information on the virus here: http://www.2-viruses.com/how-to-fix-goo ... us-problem

We've been investigating this further and have found a bug in the Joomla content management system (one of the tools we use in the eHive website). Hackers have exploited this bug to in some cases redirect users to a spam website when using a Google search.

We have been able to fix the problem on our side. The Joomla community have released an update to fix the original bug and we're applying this update to our site today to block any future occurrence of the problem.

I'm sorry for any inconvenience this has caused.
